Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister calls on Kasuri

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran, Mahdi Safari, who is visiting Pakistan, called on Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri on Thursday in the Foreign Office, the Foreign Ministry said.
Safari briefed the Foreign Minister on the latest developments related to Iran`s negotiations on the question of its nuclear program, with the EU High Representative, Javier Solana and IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei.
Safari said that given Iran`s close and fraternal ties with Pakistan, it was the first country to be briefed by Iran on this subject.
Foreign Minister Kasuri expressed appreciation for the fact that Pakistan was the first country that Iran had chosen to brief on such an important question of regional and global significance.
He reiterated Pakistan`s position that the issues pertaining to Iran`s nuclear program should be decided amicably through diplomatic dialogue and within the framework of IAEA.
Safari also availed of the occasion to express deep appreciation and gratitude of the Iranian Government to the Government of Pakistan for the recent rescue of Iranian hostages by Pakistani security forces.
