Foreign Minister of Iran, Manouchehr Mottaki, reacted Friday evening to the latest statement of the 5+1 Group saying all parties should support the recent agreement between Iran and the UN nuclear watchdog. Speaking to IRNA on the margins of the UN General Assembly, the minister said, `As it was expected, the group decided to make a final decision over Iran`s nuclear issue after head of the UN nuclear watchdog, Mohamed ElBaradei, provides its report on Tehran`s nuclear activities in November. ` The group`s member states (The UN Security Council permanent members and Germany), agreed Friday evening to wait for the reports of ElBaradei and the EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana on Iran`s nuclear activities before deciding on further sanctions against Iran over its peaceful nuclear activities. `In fact, there was no logical reason for taking any other approach given the latest agreement between Iran and the agency which was described by the IAEA chief as `one major step forward. `` Mottaki added that some parts of the Iran-IAEA agreements had been implemented and announced by the IAEA head, `therefore, Iran`s nuclear case has reached its most appropriate point now. ` He strssed that support for the agreements with IAEA should continue.
