Ahmadinejad calls for expansion of Iran-Armenia ties

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here on Monday termed Tehran-Yerevan ties as `good` and called for further expansion of all-out cooperation between the two states.
Talking to reporters prior to his departure for Yerevan, he said the two countries enjoy amicable ties in different areas of energy, trade, electricity and gas.
He added that during his meeting with his Armenian counterpart Robert Kocharian he would emphasize expansion of bilateral relations.
Tehran and Yerevan share identical views regarding many issues, President Ahmadinejad said.
He added that his visit is taking place at the official invitation of his counterpart and is in response to Kocharian`s previous visit to Tehran.
Expressing the hope that the visit would serve to boost mutual ties, the Iranian president said inking several letters of understanding is on the agenda of his Armenia visit.
Ahmadinejad, heading a high ranking delegation, left Tehran for Yerevan on Monday.
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and a number of other senior officials of the country are accompanying President Ahmadinejad in this visit.
