President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to help resolve regional issues. President Ahmadinejad made the remark at a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Robert Kocharian after signing four memoranda of understanding (MoU`s) on expansion of mutual cooperation. `We are against creation of any types of tension in our sensitive region,` underlined President Ahmadinejad. The president said all problems would be resolved through talks and dialogue. The Islamic Republic of Iran spares no efforts to help resolve all existing issues in the region, he said. President Ahmadinejad said that Iran attaches importance to expansion of ties with Armenia and sets no limit to this end, he pointed out. Expansion of friendly ties between Iran and Armenia would be to the benefit of both nations and would help restore security to the Caucasus region, he said. Promotion of economic cooperation would lead to increase in volume of trade exchange as well as transit of goods via Iran to various parts of the world, he said. The Armenian president, for his part, said `Iran is regarded as a very important country for Yerevan and we try to explore grounds for expansion of all out ties between the two sides. ` There are huge economic potentials in the fields of energy, construction of gas pipelines, construction of oil refinery and connection of the two countries` railway networks, he said. The Armenian president underlined that the two countries have agreed to have more active cooperation in their foreign policies.
